"Wellness Wednesday" - 3.5.13

Afternoon!  Welcome to wellness Wednesday. I was at a loss at first on what to start with. Challenges are fun - and group motivation is great, but no one wants to be surprised with that!  So we'll focus on the aspects of wellness.

There are seven general areas of wellness:

  • Emotional
    • Emotional wellness is being able to handle, manage and express emotions and feelings freely and effectively.
  • Occupational
    • Occupational wellness is seeking/finding satisfaction in paid or unpaid work, or academic ventures.
  • Physical
    • Physical wellness is taking good care of your body.
  • Spiritual
    • Spiritual wellness explores reason and meaning of life.  It involves dogma and ideals that provide purpose in our life, and helps us understand and appreciate the depth and immensity of life, and natural forces.
  • Intellectual
    • Intellectual wellness keeping your mind happy. The tenacity and dedication to continue learning, expanding knowledge, and improving life skills.
  • Social
    • Social wellness is the ability to relate to the people in our lives - the ability to establish and maintain healthy relationships.
  • Environmental
    • Environmental wellness is recognizing that you hold some responsibility for the health of the environment.
Wellness is so so so so so important to health, and so easy to forget about in our daily lives of running around trying to please everyone.  Each week, we'll focus on one area of this.  Next week will be physical wellness since that is the easiest, and one of the most coveted.
